Sri Melaka: Spicy-licious since 1985!

September 10, 2010

Greetings.I’d like to take this opportunity to wish my Muslim friends Selamat Hari Raya; feels a little odd doing it here but have a safe journey with all the traffic going on. I’m currently having my one week holidays which wasn’t that much of a holiday at all considering the amount of assignments in hand, but I’m very happy that all the hard work sorta paid off in a way because it feels good when you’ve done something right. :) Things at home has very much improved although I do get a little spooked once in a while, still camping at my brother’s room at the moment; till things sorta get settled.

Let me first kick this off with something random. I personally find Facebook quizzes very annoying because they’re just annoying period. However, after the Keeper took this quiz and the results turning out relatively true; I decided to give it a go. Like what I mentioned, I’m like a total newbie to the whole quiz thingie you have no idea how amused I was! After answering a couple of simple questions such as black or white this was the apparent reading.

“You’re a stubborn sweetheart. You “love” him/her only because he/she loves you. If his/her flame puts out, you let go with no trouble. You’re undoubtedly good-natured! Most of the time, people are confident to approach you because they know you will consider them.”

Thats so freakin’ true.
If you’ve ever tried the quiz, and gotten such accurate feedbacks;do share. ;)

Judging from the amount of things I’m disclosing here on my personal blog; there really is nothing much that I’m sharing about my daily life. I’ve managed to do my karaoke session which was supposedly a jamming session with Kuo Hui, mum sending for a round of facial which is causing my skin to breakout wtf, catched the Keeper play futsal at One Utama with Karlson; and to be frank, I think all this is coming in as a form of therapy. It seems like doing things out of my usual routine helps me forget or rather lessen the impact feeling it all at home.

If you should know, I’ve been longing to write this post on Sri Melaka. I’ve figured out the art of sharing good food & if you should know, you only get the most honest opinion when you’re actually eating out on your own. :) Its about putting your name and taste buds on the line wtf and thats not something I’m willing to risk losing. Anyhoo, this was dinner at the Sri Melaka branch in Amcorp Mall,PJ (thou shall not be held responsible for other outlets because I haven’t been, but I’m sure the QC is pretty okay).

Sri Melaka Restaurant.
I googled it an realized that it hasn’t come back with much info on Google, so to all food bloggers enthusiast or food lovers; here’s your chance. I’m gonna be very honest with you, my initial reason of giving this place a try was because it was highly recommended by a friend; and I like proving people wrong too wtf but he was right. ;)

My comment after this shot was, with your unconvincing face; people would think that I’m forcing you to look as if you’re pretending to like it here. :| Thank goodness for the couple in the background looking so enthusiastic!

I’m loving the ambiance; not coming from an architectural point of view, but I figured that its extremely important to feel comfortable while dining. This would be a good example on how to make an interior space look great & touched up without over-doing it. ;)

I am a fan of menus wtf. I did stumble upon ONE article online which claimed that they poor customer service. Since there isn’t much posts on Google/Yahoo search yet, I’d like to clarify that they were excellent when it comes to service. :) They have this system of having waiters walking around serving you rice/refill; so I’m assuming that for any restaurant to cater to such an extensive level of service coordination; they must be doing something right & in order.

I hate it when one dumb unhappy customer who probably happens to be unlucky throws unruly comments wtf. Sorry but I love this place so much that I need to clarify that issue.

Here’s a happy-hungry boy!

Brinjals rated 9/10. Mum has shared with me about the technical difficulties of getting a brinjal dish right; it can end up either being too slimy, detached from skin and look disgusting wtf; but boy this was my favourite dish of the night. Major plus point for me when you add prawns instead of dried prawns!

Green curry chicken rated 8.5/10. More brinjals for me :)

This is to show the portion size.

Assam Fish Fillet rated 9/10. Cooked to perfection! The texture, the taste, the color, the aftermath; they all hit the right note. :) FYI Ellie Chee does not know how to eat fish with bones, I’m hopeless that way.

Deep Fried Squid/Sotong rated 8/10. Was pretty reluctant at first because we had Fried Calamari at Manhattan Fish Market the night before, but after being highly recommended; decided to give it a go! :) I’m so glad I did!

Thats it from us, bill was approximately 80+ MYR inclusive of 15% taxes. Assam fish fillet was 24MYR and the rest of the dishes were price ranged between 10-15MYR each. I’ve attached a couple of other blogs in case you might wanna check out other dishes.
