I’m not gonna hide it anymore. Well the passing of my aunt a month ago, a three day funeral process & all the sadness hasn’t exactly worn off. Its not that feeling of losing someone you love that hurts the most, it’s the aftermath that follows; and what made things worse was probably that feeling of losing & gaining apart of yourself from it along the way. The skies haven’t exactly been all clear, blue & beautiful for the past one month; I’ve had weird dreams; dreams were supposed to mean something right?

They say that the scariest part about falling into this dark cycle is how you might never find your light at the end of the tunnel. I’ve grown a whole lot more reserved, a little awkward, I relate everything to death and sometimes its almost as if I’m turning into a sponge absorbing everything. Too much of something is never a good thing, it turns you into this numb chick. When you absorb and not have anything out, thats unhealthy. And lets just put it this way, I think I’ve found my breaking point. My grandma (yes the one whom I’ve written furious posts about) is not doing too well; the one who’s lived with me for more than 3/4 of my life is now fragile, weak & helpless.

I’m never quite that normal teenage person that you run across the street daily. Not in a bad way, I just feel that at times the world doesn’t need to know so much about how I truly feel or hurt on the inside when it comes to matters of the heart involving my family. As I stepped into my house, calling out for my parents & brothers; they were all gathered in her room. I could smell from a far that all the weird things thats been going on in my life has to mean something, somehow in someways.

The above was written before I fell asleep in front of the computer.
Mum woke me up, told me; Girl I think grandma has just passed away downstairs.

Its now 5am in the morning, and this is gonna be a tough and long weekend. They say that things all happen for a reason, and I think she’s finally freed from all her sufferings; battled cancer for a couple of years. She’s lived a good 82 years, and in so many ways I wish that I could have spent a little more time loving her instead of being angry with the way she’s mistreated me while growing up. An act of forgiveness takes you to a whole new level and it brings you peace from within. I guess this is a lesson that I must learn that as much as I hate or am angry at someone or something, sometimes letting it be and moving on from it is the most important.

I walked into the room downstairs, glanced upon a sheet covering over her face; said prayers hoping that she’ll be in peace and be in a better place. Its not exactly easy to be the host two funerals within a time frame of a month, to attend one is tough; having one is a million times harder. Please don’t blame me for being a little reserved or weird out temporarily, I’m really trying to cope with everything at the moment. I think that moment of watching someone you love die, being hours away before the final breathe is by far the toughest. Its a cocktail of emotions, and I did my best holding my tears.

Gonna be rushing for my morning class before heading off to Nirvana @ Sungai Besi.
Life may be short, but deep inside I’m glad she’s lived a long one. Cherish the ones you love, forget all anger & grudges because to be honest, its not worth it. I’m sure as much as you’re mad at someone, you know its an amplified mixture of feelings and if they were to die; you’d feel it to. Do yourself a favour, find peace.

Same goes for me.

I’ve always loved you. Just wished my childhood with you was a happier one.
Say a prayer, and may Gods love be with you.

Good day folks. It seems almost impossible to squeeze time out of my hectic life wtf although I’m usually home stoning in front of the PC either making models, screaming in frustration while working on my 3D models, having ink marks all over my hand after drawing; either that or I’m constantly in deep thought. This isn’t funny anymore because I realize how consumed I get by work, work(uni assignments) who keeps me up all night, it keeps me grounded literally and I guess in some ways I’m happy with what I’m doing but yet it takes the life out of me.

The Keeper thinks that I’m a workaholic by nature, you’ll see me sitting at the same spot working on the same damn thing for hours without that itch to do something else(not until I’m done of course). And what frustrates me most at times, is how my dad would gladly assume that I’m wasting my time off doing something online wtf or I’m lacking passion for architecture. Trust me, architecture students are all driven by passion & the love for what they do. Its one of the many things that keeps us up but yet it develops so many different aspects in ourselves as we learn.

Dilemmas & decisions. These Double-D’s, point blank killers.
I’m starting to accept that my life will always be filled with these double-D’s. Its almost impossible to get rid of them, so if you can’t beat them; why not join them right wtf. Not sure how that applies here, but I guess thats all part of growing up.So to all my younger readers out there, in case you’re feeling all lousy and beaten up today by all the shitty growing pains; tell yourself that there’s nothing you can’t accomplish. When there’s a will, there’ll always be a way.

I’d like to just share a couple of pictures to demonstrate how my life revolves so much around architecture at home. So much that my room table isn’t large enough that I have to work in the dining area wtf. I literally separated the table that can fit 8 people into “working zones”, and you might wanna take a look at the amount of mess it is at the moment. I hope you’re not expecting something tidy because there are some designers/architects who works best under controlled chaos.

#1 My always growing in size pencil case, don’t usually invest in any expensive one because it usually gets destroyed via UHU Glue or the blades/cutters.

Wasted 9 hours of my life on this. Gonna be bringing this to class to later.

A transformed dining table experience. And this two sheets of hand drawn A1′s took up 10 hours of my yesterday. You can imagine the amount of mess and rubbish that comes along with this?

Just for the sake of comparing the size of the model with the phone. Its not very big in size if you catch my drift.

All these put together is a Sunday/Monday/Tuesday’s worth of work, minus the 3D computer generated model of course. Don’t know if you can picture this girl sitting all alone till wee hours in the morning with twitter as her main companion since I don’t chat much.

This was taken a couple of days ago using the lappie, I didn’t realize I cut myself until much later when mum asked what happened to your thigh wtf. God knows why do I even bother having this picture up, but yeah for the sake of sharing my hardships; why not?

This was dinner last night, at Manhattan Fish Market. I wanted to had Fridays but we all know that the queue for dinner with buka puasa & public holidays going hand in hand; its not possible. I enjoyed the treat none the less! The Keeper stayed up with me on Merdeka eve because he wants to be the best boyfriend in the whole wide world wtf just kidding; I needed the morale support & love. Staying in at times is pretty fun at times, when you make him wash all the dishes with you fighting between soaping/rinsing off; and you’d be surprise with how professional men can be when it comes to doing the dishes. In that case,may I suggest that all future husbands to do all the dishes after the wives cook?

Excellent idea!

Sometimes you just gotta find the balance and love what you do to its fullest. And no matter how tough life gets, just gotta hang in there; and fight your way through. I am struggling, struggling to grab a good hold of the 384862376426398462 things to do, but I know I will be able to pull it off. Greetings readers! I’ve always had preferences, things which I like and I am pretty loyal that way. In that sense where if I do fall in love with something in particular (not someone okay), I would set my hearts out to hunt for it. Putting on a pair of high heels seems a little too troublesome these days for me when it comes to going for classes because Taylor’s car parks are not exactly the most fantastic ones; despite the efforts made, I think the good walking distance creates more healthy interaction within the campus, agree?

Back to my shoe story, if I could show you the amount of shoes I have, I would. But my biggest weakness would be always falling back to my favourite style/pair of shoes and when the seasons over & done with; it’ll be left chucked aside like a display item wtf. If you do know me in person, you’d probably find it quite contradicting with my personality/bubbly self that I’m all about monochromatic colors; so much of black, white & grey that people are taking me too seriously. They say that colors paint a certain picture, but I can’t help it; there’s a reason why most architects aren’t exactly the most colourful people, but we are people who solve problems and come up with the best solutions.

It all boils down to preferences.
I found my solution tooooooooo.

As an architecture student, with a diploma in hand now completing my degree; I guess people in the construction field have never quite paid enough attention to footwear. Its not the typical Phua Chu Kang yellow boots wtf but I know I would love to have a perfect pair of shoes when it comes to going for my site visits, construction sites, daily usage & durability is the utmost important factor. Recently I’ve finally gotten myself a new pair of Crocs McCall.

FYI, I LOVE IT TO BITS.

I shall assume by now that the perception of Crocs looking that same way as it used to be many years ago is long gone, because you have no idea how much you’re missing out on. Designers know the amount of thought and consideration placed into developing something that caters to the level of comfort. For my case, I love flats and how I can go around climbing, running, walking through wet/muddy places without having to worry about it getting wet/dirty/stink. Credits to the unique material used (please buy original ones!

Croslite which  changes shape when exposed to heat.  This means that by wearing shoes made out of croslite, the shoes will gradually mold to the shape of the wearer’s feet. A “closed-cell” material.  This means that the “cells” or bubbles that make up the foam material are strong enough that you can walk on them without breaking the material.

Good day folks. I’ve finally found some time after the past couple of days being stuck with assignments after assignments; but it’s obvious that I’m now on a full swing pace. As much as I’d love to update the past two days especially since I’ve been dying to share my experience up on the air! That totally made my weekend, and I’ll write about that a little later down the post.

I’m a thinker by nature, I think a lot and when I say a lot; I mean a never-ending self-driven machine that goes on and on wondering about a million things. They say that a mind is a dangerous place to get caught in, and as much as I try to not get suck into it; Ellie the bum bum never fails to go astray. It’s not exactly an Alice in Wonderland situation, but I like happy thoughts.

One of the main contributor to all my smiley days; like how I’d smile over the thought of the Keeper calling up to tell me that he’s gonna renew his driving license for a year because mine is due to expire next year on the very same date. Its these little random things that counts, it goes to show how lucky I am in so many ways; count your blessings & quit pondering on the things in life you’d never attain. In life its all about finding that inner peace, and focus in doing the things you’re set out to reach out for.

For example, at this very point of my life; it’s all about prioritizing on my architectural studies and trust me it’s a million times tougher than you think to refrain myself from getting sucked into all the media buzz & awesome freebies. I feel so bad at times not being able to keep up with the flooding emails; frankly speaking the amount of time I spend online goes simultaneously with the amount of time I’m actually working at home. I know you might find this hard to believe, but I rarely open up this page not unless I’m actually logging on to update.

Enough of ranting, lets get down to some serious business. I’ve always had this thing for pilots, this was once upon a long time ago wtf not until I realize that there’s more cons than pros when you date a pilot. Anyhoo, last weekend; I’ve finally found my way up to a private plane flown by Reuben; a 30-40minutes long tour flying around Kuala Lumpur.The thing about photo opportunities when you’re in the tallest building in the world, you’ll probably have some form of similar experience getting shots, overlooking the surroundings from a higher point.

Either that, or you’re up on the aeroplane taking off to some country getting all excited upon take-offs and landings because that’s probably the only chance we get to snap pictures being above ground level. So imagine, the excitement I had when I know that I’m actually gonna be able to have an overview of the immediate cityscape from slightly above eye level but lower than a birds eye view.

Nope you can’t fit all of us into the plane, maximum four passengers!

The first 30 minutes of the first group Hanie, Evo & Marcus; and now its finally our turn. I have to admit that as the clock ticked, i was a little nervous and paranoid having a million thoughts running through my head like oh what if i crash and die wtf. This is what happens to people who thinks too much, but i kept those thoughts to myself of course. Wouldn’t wanna freak everyone else out right? People get up on the plane, to have this adrenaline thrill all the time, whats life is its not lived to the fullest!

I personally like this shot, when you turn the camera around before the plane takes off.

It was a smooth take off session, try picturing the usual big ass aeroplanes experience, and multiply that 2426398462736410934 times since we’re in a plane that can accomodate only four people.

I am so glad that I went for this, because it sort of hit the refresh button from all the stress & emoness wtf. I know that most people would love this if you’ve got the guts & ran out of things to do. Just a random note, wouldn’t it be a romantic thing to go on a date, up in the air? I mean we’ve done everything cliche, and I highly recommend you to give this a try! Thanks Reuben for the amazing experience, at least now I can tell people that I’ve been on a private plane.

Greetings. It was sure one hell of a spooky post about the do’s and don’ts during the hungry ghost festival; thanks for the responses & apparently some of these “rules” were broken by many, for example; cursing wtf. Lets get over that chapter for now shall we, because I’m a pretty happy kid today. Its not that I have any good news to share neither did I strike a lottery wtf but I finally had sometime for myself. Perhaps, all I needed was just a good rest, an hour in front of the TV without having to worry about assignments.

Thats obviously not it, I guess in someways I might have complicated things in my life; the people, the lifestyle, the dramas, the food?, and I’m now pursuing the art of simplifying life. I discussed this tiny thought of mine with the Keeper,asking him why does things always seem so complicated (can be either good or bad) and if I’m causing it. His reply was, its a 50/50 thing. Apparently my style of not willing to commit into anything more than friendships, but when I do things get messy for some reason. Then I came up with a conclusion that I really like my privacy.

The misconception would be the part where I hate being apart of something; to be honest, I can’t stand commitments when it comes to taking up my time. I know very well that I tend to hold back from taking any step further than just being normal casual friends because I know I am in no position to maintain anything deeper than that. I don’t like friendships which comes with expectations, just have a couple of good ones who knows every men you made out with wtf just kidding. My point is, not everybody needs social assurance to determine who/how they are in front of the rest of the world.

I do, care a lot about people, but I like to give as much as I can give only when its an unexpected thing. I find it a struggle to cope with my current commitments that I don’t even have enough time for myself, but I’m truly blessed with the love I’m getting at the moment; just felt like justifying the fact that we’re all individuals with preferences. The person that I was before was completely overexposed, I never had the chance to protect my rights, my private notorious life, and when I had that gun pointed at my head (not literally) I knew that if I had the chance to fix things, the first thing at the top of my list is to protect myself.

I write here pretty openly but you can’t say that you know a lot about me because all you have is probably bits and pieces gathered from some point in time which probably won’t even add up to an hour of conversation with me. I’m no longer that weak and vulnerable person (sometimes) because honestly I’m not bothered by jackshit comments by anonymous wtf I’m so immune to small faggots at this point of my blogging career. As a person, with the guidance of my loved ones; a little mishaps here and there, but I think life is pretty good now.

Like what the Keeper always say, you can’t control what others think/feel about you; especially when you expose so much about yourself but don’t commit to any tom dick and harry; just do you best as a person & live life to the fullest. Do things that makes you wake up in the morning without feeling like you’re useless to the world wtf and spread the love. Don’t for a second get upset over petty issues because there’s always God and karma watching over each of us. Let fate take its course,and be merry.

On a random note, the other day I was so annoyed with the Keeper playing Starcraft 2(one of the many birthday presents including the new pair of Puma Roma68 bought earlier tonight), that I drew all over his left arm with black ink. Another random incident, the Keeper bought his family dinner two nights ago,and when his brother was informed; the first thing that he said was; Alvin do you have any life changing news to share? HAHAHA we laughed so hard that I literally fell off the chair. Have to wait till I graduate to get married wtf.

If you can find a man who’d move his world forward for the better just for you, marry him. Men are plentiful, comes with different packages, most with history but not many come with faith and courage in love. I vow to be more positive tomorrow. A retail therapy,movie date & apple juice will always be the remedy.

Good day folks. Its been quite a while since I’ve written down happy thoughts thats probably because all I have in mind at the end of every long tiring day would be projects & due dates; its almost impossible to actually allow myself to dwell into the sweeter thoughts. I would gladly assume that could be one of the reasons why I’ve been having nightmares so frequently lately, ones that seem stupid & meaningless to some people which I did try explaining myself to, but hey considering my history with the “month” you’ve got to look deeper than that.

Most people don’t believe in ghosts, I don’t either; but I honestly believe in the existence of other beings among us and forces which the eyes cannot see. Someone once told me that if you’ve ever been exposed in anyway to spirits, the tendency of them getting to you again is much higher; in other words more accessible. Nobody will ever believe in what you have to say if you’re ever exposed to one because seeing is believing. And to some extent, even your closest friends would jump into conclusions claiming that you’re just being paranoid when the truth remains, you’re indeed being troubled.

During this time (typically somewhere between August and September), it is believed that the Gates of Hell are open, freeing ghosts and spirits to roam our world, away from their sufferings in the underworld where they had been banished to. It is believed that these spirits will be hungry for comfort and food, while some may seek out revenge or settlement for unfinished business.

1. Avoiding standing under the tree or under the bus stop during night time.Usually it is dark and cold under the tree shade and bus stop. It is believed that these “things” will usually rest under that kind of condition. If you are “good” luck that day, it will follow you back home.
2. Do not step or kick the praying items and temporary altar by the roadside.During the Lunar 7th month, there will be a lot of praying items and temporary altars placed by the roadside and these are all meant for the “thing”. If you accidentally stepped on them, it is better that you apologise to them. Else if you get them angry I am not sure what they can do.
3. Do not place your kid on the altar/offering table when visiting or praying to these sites.As there was a case where a mother took her child to this event, the kid’s shoe dropped while the mother was handling some offerings. The mother placed the kid on the altar to pick up the shoe from the floor. After she got the shoe, the whole kid had turned into blank color and passed away.
4. Don’t stay out late at night. It is best to be home by sunset. The elders used to say that this is the time where the yin energy is at the strongest and most powerful, and that bad things could happen if you are not careful. Also, it is also another belief that the spirits could roam the streets freely to their content without being obstructed by human beings which is also another reason why some Chinese shops close down early during this month)
5. Don’t Travel on the road, by flight or by ship. It is advisable to postpone any major travel or vacation during this time to avoid any mishap or accident. Of course, if you happen to be driving to work, you can’t avoid that, but do be extra careful when you’re driving as well.
6. Don’t Step on the praying paraphernalia or burning paper/food.These are food and offerings to the spirits, and avoid stepping onto or kicking them away as this could offend the spirits. After all, if it were you, would you like to have your food/gifts being stepped or kicked off? (reverse the situation)
7. Don’t Move into new house or change new furniture/mattress (No housewarming or house parties as well). This could inadvertently ‘invite’ some wandering spirits into your house as you are moving items and into a new unoccupied space which the spirits could deem as their own as well. Furthermore, they could hide from the guards to escape going back to their realm.
8. Don’t Curse and swear everywhere.You could incur a spirit’s wrath if you happened to be in his path as it could be perceived as being disrespectful.
9. Don’t Get married. Weddings during this month may not have a good ending, as believed, as there may be bad curses or hex placed by spirits on them. Furthermore, you would not want to have additional ‘uninvited guests’ crashing your party which you obviously did not plan for, do you?
10. Don’t Place your child on the offering altar when you are visiting the temples or the sites where the Guardian of Hungry Ghosts/Hell is located.I have shared a story which my aunts have told me before on how a mother used to place her child on the offering altar while preparing her offerings and when she turned to check on her child, the child was already breathless. Anything placed on the offering altar may be considered as an offering to the spirits and they will take it.
11. Don’t Paint your nails black. Much as you think it is funky to do so, refrain from doing so particularly during this month as only the dead have nails which turned black due to the halt in blood flow. Black nails may lead the spirits to think that you are one of them and may lead you back to hell as well.
12. Don’t Whistle/Sing at night. For obvious reasons, you could be attracting the attention of the roaming spirits.
13. Don’t Swim or play in the sea/river. There are spirits who have drowned and there is a belief they may be out to take revenge or to find a substitute to take their place in death to allow for their reincarnation or to leave the place where their souls linger.
14. Don’t Sit on the front rows or seats which are left vacant while the others are all occupied.This is especially when you watch the street performances such as opera or ko-tai, as some still follow the old tradition to reserve the first row of seats for the spirits as a form of respect. In the older days, they do the same in the cinema; there is always a row of vacant seats which they reserve specially for the unseen.If you are running late and you notice that there are empty seats in the front row, just stand by the side. It’s better to stand than to offend any of the spirit.
15. Don’t Look underneath the altar table/offerings table when there is a prayer session. If you are unlucky, you may spot some unseen having their feast underneath the table and they don’t like being disturbed.

“This is a true story, which happened to one of my aunts before she was married.
She had personally related her story to us when we were young and I remembered my mum telling it to me too.
My aunt (I won’t reveal which aunt) had an ability to see ghosts; an ability that she did not appreciate as it did not bring any good to her. She had a rather strong yin energy, according to one of the mediums whom grandmother brought her to.
That was why she could see or sense the presence of the spirits.
This happened when she was in her early twenties; before she was married.
She was the one helping my grandmother with the household chores and usually that required her to work in the kitchen.
She was finishing her chores that night; which coincidentally was during the 7th month (aka the Hungry Ghost month).
It was getting late at night and she was boiling water and she happened to look outside of the door.
(My grandmother used to live in those pre-war old shophouses, and there is an alley between the row of shophouses which is quite wide. They like to leave the back door of the kitchen open, but the latch on the outer metal gate would be locked. The wooden door would be left wide open to allow ventilation within the kitchen)There was a small red shrine at the back alley, which was slightly at a diagonal angle from my grandmother’s kitchen. She spotted an old man crouching in front of the shrine.
Initially she thought he was just placing his offerings at the altar although she found it weird at that time of the night; it was almost 11+ at night.She then heard crunching and munching sounds and she noticed that he was eating those food/offerings at the shrine and she was surprised.She stared and noticed that the old man was staying in the row behind my grandmother’s, it was someone they had known for years. The only thing is, he had died a few weeks ago!
She realized it and immediately closed the door and ran into the living hall!
I think she developed a fever the following day or something like that, and after some remedy from the medium, she recovered fine.Thankfully there was nothing malevolent about the spirit nor were there any harm done.”

The reason I’m sharing this is because I am kinda freaked out myself after what happened the past couple of nights. Don’t think I should freak you out with my stories because I am kinda getting used to this; but if you have any other “do’s and dont’s” please do share it with me. If you don’t believe in these things, leave it to the benefit of the doubt that the word the unknown is created a reason. I’ve been hearing so many stories of accidents happening so frequently last couple of days. Friends please do be extra careful when you drive out at night, and don’t take things for granted.
